This wonderful Colonial Revival home was built in 1920 for Douglass Woodruff, the owner of Auburn Button Works, and was designed with entertaining in mind. A tree-shaded veranda stretches the length of the back of the house and a secret garden at the back of the property was originally landscaped in the 1920’s by a Cornell University student. The Secret Garden has been restored and further developed to now include a beautiful gazebo and Koi pond. Spacious and inviting, the three rooms on the main floor that face the back yard, the sunroom, drawing room and dining room, all have French doors which open out onto the veranda. I imagine that Douglas & his wife rubbed elbows with the affluent of Auburn at many a garden party.
